Innovation in Design and Research

Design Research is the process where a planned strategy or procedure is made and executed for the development and design of the product. The basic purpose of Design Research is to create products, services and systems that satisfy and answer to all the human wants and needs. We may find Market Research and Design Research similar, but it is not so. Market research identifies and acts on the consumer's needs. Whereas, Design Research, based on the belief that the optimal market conditions and the consumers’ needs are already known. Design research is focused upon delivering value to the users.

Design Sprint is a process or a method to validate the ideas and testing it with the customers. The process includes:
  1. Understand: To understand and analyze the problem and to select a specific area.
  2. Layout: To plan it on paper and retrieving various solutions.
  3. Decisions: To analyze and research upon every solution through a hypothesis.
  4. Prototype: It focuses on how to release a trial product.
  5. Feedback: To know from the users the feedback of the product.
User Experience Design or UX Design is the procedure that a design team uses to innovate, develop, and create products or service or system that is productive for the customers.

Cultural Insights are the deep understandings that originate from cultures: ideas, customs, traditions, and needs, social and psychological behavior.

Singapore’s economy is highly developed, having a business-oriented culture. Singapore’s status as the top global place for the design was recognized as a UNESCO Creative City of Design. HEIST is one of the Singapore Design Firm.
